Phenomenological explanation of women's lived experience with spouses with mental disorders

Context: The spouse has a very important role to play in increasing the emotional and supportive resources of family as well patient adjustment. Therefore, understanding their experiences can lead health-care system improvement effective care support.Aims: This study was conducted explanation lived women with spouses mental illness.Settings Design: qualitative carried out using van Manen phenomenology method.Materials Methods: Ten were participated by purposeful sampling. Data gathered through semi-structured interviews, observation, Memo.Statistical Analysis Used: To analyze data, six-step method “Van Manen” used.Results: results life mentally impaired include main theme “frustration” that includes four subthemes “gradual extinction”, “disappointment”, “forgotten”, “financial disconnection”. gradual extinction consists three subcategories: “role relocation”, “self-neglect”, “early aging”. Disappointment consisting subcategories “misery”, “obligate life”, disturbance distress” “loneliness”. Forgotten “not being comprehensive treatment system”, “isolation seclusion”, “lack support”. Financial disconnection sub-categories: governmental support”, “economic family”, “working woman children”.Conclusions: Participants this research showed lack knowledge about dealing attention individual problems. Families expressed need for support due status women.
